How I Became An Internet Affiliate Marketing Entrepreneur

I became an internet affiliate marketing entrepreneur by accident and since I became one, I have been obsessed with meeting and surpassing my affiliate marketing goals. My affiliate marketing goals are simple and easy to achieve from month to month. However, I do not achieve these affiliate marketing goals of mine every month but I trudge on in the hope that the next month would be better than the previous one. And most times, they are.

I first heard about internet marketing in the year 2003. I was fascinated by internet marketing, especially affiliate programs and how one could be working for organizations that one did not know physically and be earning an income sufficient [most times] to sustain him. I come from a developing country where the internet is just starting to be noticed. Even at that, the internet here is just only about emails and chatting. Any other thing other than that on the internet is viewed with suspicion by those around and by our security agencies.

I lost my job in 2003 after 12 years of continuous service to the organization. I was to say the least devastated. I used available funds at my disposal to browse the internet to find out if I could get anything positive from there. I got ideas but the wherewithal was not available to prosecute such opportunities. That was when I saw the potentials in affiliate programs and affiliate marketing. I joined my first affiliate program that year 2003. The company was located in Canada and was named Zenmed. I did not do any promotion of the program but I was hoping that somehow, people will perchance see the company assigned affiliate websites and make a purchase which will enable me earn an affiliate commission.

This was not to be. Nobody visited those sites and nobody clicked my affiliate sites to enable me earn affiliate commissions. It was not until February, 2006, that I started serious [though not very serious due to inadequate logistics] promotion of my affiliate products. I started serious affiliate product promotion by using free blogs from Blogger.Com. I had read one of the free reports on the internet about blogging and how it can help to give one an internet presence. I registered one blog and did everything they stated in that report. I also copied some free affiliate promotion banners from my affiliate program and placed same into my blog. I got content from free articles directories that were related to the affiliate product I was promoting for the treatment of acne. I learnt how to ping and pinged each time I posted into my blog. I earned my first affiliate commission using entirely free promotion tools.

I have since got better with my internet affiliate marketing. I set affiliate marketing goals for myself all the time. I have achieved some of these goals easily and some of them are still far from being accomplished. One of the best goals I achieved was joining Plug In Profit Site [PIPS] program.
